ST. NICHOLAS CHAMBERS,

AMEN CORNER,

NEWCASTLE UPON TYNE,

29th November, 1907.

Dear Sirs:-

re Mrs. J. R. Harman, deceased. Letter from Foreign Office 35262

.07.

We are in receipt of your letter of yester-

dey's date and are much obliged for the information

contained in the letter from the Foreign Office of

the 27th instant of which you have sent us a copy.

This letter puts the matter very clearly

with regard to how duty comes to be claimed in

Shanghai and as to the practice there to refuse to

recognise anything but a Shanghai Grant of Probate.

We feel bound to sey, however, that we are very dis-

appointed to find that after a delay of many months

the Foreign Secretary has nothing more practical to

suggest than that the Executors of the Estate would

no doubt "be entitled, if they so desire, to commence

proceedings

Messrs. King, Wigg end Company,

11, Queen Victoria Street,

London, E.C.
